Mah Nishtana - The Four Questions

 

Ma nish-ta-nah ha-lai-lah ha-zeh,
Mi-kol ha-lay-lot? (2x)

Why is this night different from all other nights?
She-b’-chol ha-lay-lot a-nu och-lin,
Chametz u-ma-tzah, (2x)
Ha-lai-lah ha-zeh (2x) ku-lo ma-tzah. (2x)
On all other nights, we eat bread or matzah, but on this night only matzah.

She-b’chol ha-lay-lot a-nu och-lin,
Sh’-ar y’-ra-kot. (2x)
Ha-lai-lah ha-zeh (2x) ma-ror. (2x)

On all other nights, we eat all kinds of herbs, but on this night we eat bitter herbs.

She-b’-chol ha-lay-lot ein a-nu mat- bi-lin,
A-fi-lu pa-am e-chat, (2x)
Ha-lai-lah ha-zeh (2x) sh’-tey f’-ah-mim. (2x)

On all other nights, we do not dip even once, but on this night we dip twice.

She-b’-chol ha-lay-lot a-nu och-lin,
Bein yosh-veen u-vein m’-su-been, (2x)
Ha-lai-lah ha-zeh (2x) ku-la-nu m’-su-been. (2x)

On all other nights, we eat either sitting up or reclining, but on this night we all recline.
